The 9.5" comb covers the coat range where a 7" runs out of reach. Large breeds, double-coated dogs, the post-bath detangle on a Golden Retriever or a Bernese. Extended tine length reaches through the coat, not just across the surface. Ash wood absorbs the leverage load without transferring fatigue to the wrist.

On a large double-coated breed, a 7" comb requires twice the passes to cover the same ground.
